INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. Install 1/2" plywood decking (5/12" slope minimum pitch recommended). In re-roofing, can be installed over asphalt shingles.

2. Clean roof surface of all objects that may puncture or tear underlayment. Cover entire roof area with a minimum 30# felt or comparable shield.

3. Attach roof jacks and seal properly. Insulate between dissimilar metals with roofing felt.

4. Install eaves drip (sketch 1) at eaves. Use regular roofing nails.

5. Install shingle gable edging (sketch 2) along gable and overlap where it joins the eaves drip. Install wall starter (sketch 6), if necessary.

6. Install V-shingle valley (sketch 3) starting at lower end of valley, lapping joints a minimum of 6". Nail at extreme outside of flashing at 18" on center. (Can use regular or roll valley instead.)

7. Attach J-valley shingle starter strip (sketch 4) to valley flashing. Attach by soldering or by using screws or roofing nails along with caulking underneath.

8. Install shingle ridge roll (sketch 5) along ridge and hip.

9. You are now ready to install the shingles. Use 3D nails of same material as shingles. Start at lower left eaves corner. Place a bead of caulk inside open portion of gable edging then slip left side of shingle into gable edging. Nail two nails on right side of shingle. Continue likewise across first row. The last shingle on the row may have be to be trimmed in order to fit tightly as specified in #10. On second row, cut first shingle in half to stagger. Second row overlaps first row by 1-1/4". When installing shingles use a horizontal chalk line to keep each line of shingles in a straight line.

10. When shingles reach the valley or hip, trim the shingles so they fit tightly into the interlocking strip, edging or ridge roll.

11. Trim the shingle as necessary at the ridge so that the bottom edge of the shingle follows the pattern of the other shingles and the top fits tightly into the ridge roll.
